Faeries

Just outside of the kitchen, around the corner from the staircase is the winter home of our faeries-in-residence, Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Cheyenne, Isabella and Tinkerbell. They moved here early last winter when snowstorm after snowstorm kept blocking the entrance to their tree house in the front yard. This greatly upset Cheyenne and Isabella, who were concerned that the faeries would be trapped. We decided, all things considered, that it was easier to give them a temporary home indoors than to keep shoveling their walkway.

They've been most grateful for the heated living conditions and occasional food stolen from the pantry, conveniently located just across the hall from their front door, but it's spring now. It's time for them to return to their natural habitat. The girls are excited for the move because this spring we hope to plant the faeries their very own garden in the front yard. We've been leafing through catalogs of native woodland plants and have a few ideas. The faeries can't wait to see what we come up with.
